The St Andrews open is always an easy tourament for the pros due to the fact it's so short and the par score was set when it first opened and hasn't been altered since. The only hole that really challenges them is the road hole (17th)

The other courses used in the open (Carnoustie, Troon, Birkdale etc) tend to be alot longer and narrow so provides the pros a tougher challenge. I think the winning score last time it was at Birkdale was something like 9 over par which is unheard of in the PGA or the other majors.
