So if the original joke, which started the 'racist' debate actually read ....

"Yorkshire boxer, Bert Yorkiebar has just returned to the ring foll0wing a horrific accident resulting in both feet being amputated...

This was his third fight without defeet....."

would people be offended?
Maybe if the terms Scouser ; Geordie ; Essex Man / Girl ; Mancunian ; Irish Navvy ; Galswegian ; Paddy ; Murphy ; Ginger ; Jock etc... were substituted then would this be less offensive, in your eyes?
It is only people who are obviously lacking in grey cells (Ooops! that could offend someone) who need to examine what has been said. Crikey - it was a joke! Practically every joke will offend someone! I.e. being the butt of the joke.
I have a very close Jamaican friend who sadly misses the demise of the Robertson golly, and really thinks that the PC "good doers" actually create more friction by continuously getting involved in matters that frankly have nothing to do with them.
I am a bald, bespectacled, fat old bloke, and do not mind being called that, but would be more offended if the PC brigade called me a folicley challenged, optically challenged, weight challenged person of senior years.
They are just interfering do gooders, who have not realised that life is too short to bother with such trivialities.
