But why, providing the competitors are of sound mind, are adults and understand the risks, should we not let them risk their own lives for their passion? Lets face it we all race to fill a void of adrenalin in our lives, these TT racers are exactly the same except that void cannot be filed by anything less extreme than road racing! Yes we should eliminate as much unnecessary risk in our day to day lives, but some events such as scaling Mount Everest, reaching the south pole, racing at the TT etc etc are partly so appealing to the competitors BECAUSE of the risk involved, and I imagine many wouldn't compete if the event was wrapped up in cotton wool! It just so happens that people enjoy going to watch the speed, sound and spectacle of these competitors doing what they love, and I guarantee you NONE of the spectators want to see anyone get injured or worse, during the event.

Anyway, getting a severe case of dejavu here, not posting anymore replies as I know exactly whats on the way anyway...... cue Ians endless gladiator comparisons and health and safety speeches! ;)
