David,

Lane hogging does not affect me much when I drive a car. Used to be a bit of a nuisance when karting and towing a caravan behind the van.

It is annoying when you are behind someone doing 40/45 in the middle lane when the inside lane is clear or there ids plenty of room for them to pull in and they are not catching traffic on the inside lane.

Maybe the main benefit of a new law will be the publicity - making drivers realise that they should not be doing it.

How you stop the BMW/Audi brigade from tailgating is another matter as even they must realise that it is dangerous.
