The point he was making (just to clarify) is that it doesn't matter what your racing, the enjoyment comes from driving on the limit, on the cars limit and ones own physical limits.

Thinking about the quote, that implies that last season wasn't as fun to drive as they were driving well within their own limits and well within the cars limits. They really have wrecked F1 with the silly tyres and lack of refueling.
