If you do some simple sums I think it puts it into context.

A 60cc 2/ engine running at 12,000 RPM is sucking in 12 litres of air per second, about half a litre of fuel is used in a 10 minute race – so, by volume, the ratio of fuel to uncompressed air is tiny. Even if the fuel is ice cold when it enters the venturi the effect on the inlet temp is likely to be pretty negligible.

I seem to remember the F1 teams putting dry ice into the side pod air intakes during some pit stops. Maybe we could try filling the airbox with dry ice! Might work well with the frozen chicken ;)
