The marshals and CoC have a very difficult job with this. Given the speed that even cadets go and the close nature of the racing it is almost inevitable that there will be some contact and perhaps more parents should accept this and stop making protests.
We obviously need to stop the deliberate incidents but with only so many pairs of eyes available the officials will not spot everything.
My main concern is the increase in the use of `black flags'. At a recent meeting we had a warning flag following a three kart incident. The dad of the driver who went off and out of the race was adamant it was not our fault and the CoC agreed at the subsequent hearing. However if we had a black flag instead of just a warning then our race would have been ruined for nothing.
At least with a hearing before CoC there is the chance to get all the facts out and hopefully get the right decision whereas a black flag can not be undone. There again, we would not thank the officials for leaving someone out on the track following a really dangerous incident.
Far easier to be the aggrieved dad then the official who must always get it right.
