For those of you who weren't at the meeting you should really hold your comments unless you know the facts.

I was at the meeting and was also involved in similar incidents throughout the weekend, mostly I have to say with guest drivers and this is where my complaint lies.

When my father and I signed up for Super 1, we did so knowing that a. the investment would cost us £8000 or more for the year and b. that we would probably be knocked off the track at some point during our season. We knew what we were doing and accepted this inevitability as a fact.

We committed to Super 1 completely and have tried our very hardest not to cause incidents during race meetings, if and when we do we do our best to apologise to our fellow competitors for our failure to control our kart during the race. In my opinion most of the drivers I race with are generally clean and I include the recipient of the bad press in this and other threads in this forum. We just learnt very early in the season that if a faster driver is behind you move over when it is safe to do so and let them pass, follow them and learn how they do it.

The stakes are very high when you are racing for an S1 number and you consider the investment in time and money that is required to race at this level, Clay was the penultimate race of the season and position means everything to the guys who have committed themselves for the whole year.

When guest drivers are allowed to race at the same time, they are generally local club members who know the track well and turn up to see if they can "beat the Super 1 boys" or at least see how they compare, this can cost committed S1 drivers valuable points. Generally, they don't care how much time and money we have all invested, most won't yield to faster drivers and respect their position in the series.

At the time my father and I felt very sorry for the drivers we hit during race day, we didn't do it on purpose and were punished severely by the COC for our actions which cost us much needed points and most likely a top ten position this year. I also feel sorry for Daniel who has never taken me off the track in the 3 years that I have raced in the same class as him. I simply do not believe he did this on purpose and his punishment for the day probably cost him the entire season.
