time for new stub axles ??

i was wondering what you lot thought about renewing front stub axles, i have raced a 7 kart for three years and still using same set, Rob at 7kart said he changed them after every enduro at RyeHouse he does,
mine still work as they should but having seen 3 or 4 snap over the last few months i'm thinking i should change them as i have the type that 7kart have made that you simply unscrew..(Brilliant idea)
i did once ask a chap for his thoughts on it and he gave me a very long lecture on doing a full blown aviation crack test, i don't know how long he went on as i became unconscious after the 2nd or 3rd hour.. thanks in advance for input,
