Which ever way you go, you need to replace the crank half.

This will involve dismantling the engine and splitting the crankshaft.

Not really a job for the novice as you need quite a bit of equipment and it needs to be done correctly.

It would be better to let an engine builder do it.

A crank half is going to be about £160 +vat for a clutch half and a little cheaper for a direct drive half.

If the engine is stripped, you might as well replace the mains and seals at the same time.

It may also be due for a new piston which will be £60 odd.

Adding labour into that you might be looking at £300.00 plus.

You could get a used crank but that doesn't guarantee the journal is good.
