Right so being battered after another days racing I'm interested to hear others opinions on the new age tyres compared to the old ones from a drivers point of view.

For me yesterday (just a fun day racing IKR at Hooton) was definitely not fun to drive. I have raced on and off the odd race here and there but have never got to grips (excuse the pun) with these new age tyres. I used to race on the old tyres twice per month and put everything I earned into it, so had lots of experience.

The old tyres I remember being tired but with these new age tyres I'm literally not looking forward to going out racing, I want to race but the thought of my arms feeling like they're ripping off on cornering just doesn't seem right.

Now before everyone starts saying you need to do grip training, lower the steering wheel, put on angled bosses and all that, well these things I know will help but it's only a subtle difference, in my opinion these karts are just horrible to drive with tyres as wide and grippy as this, it just doesn't seem fun to me.

I'm going to go into retro racing as they apparently use a much harder compound which to me sounds ideal but it's still dodging the ultimate question... what's everybody's opinions on the old age tyres compared to the new age in terms of overall enjoyment?

Is it just me or are they just horrible to drive? Do you come off the kart with bruises everywhere? Are your arms trembling and spilling your cuppa (pint ; ) ) at the end of a days racing?
