The biggest challenge for most drivers is funding. You need lots of money either from your family or a sponsor. Somewhere between Ł5m and Ł10m should cover the costs of moving through the stages to F1.
A few years ago Eddie Jordon interviewed some aspiring F1 drivers how much they needed to get a seat. They agreed that Ł10m a year could be enough but more would make it easier.
