Lakeside Karting - Pro Kart Endurance Championship
Round 6 - 25th October 2003 - Lakeside Kart Circuit

Busy paddock with the biggest entry to date with 17 teams entered. Stakes raised with the appearance of the DBR Eglem team last seen winning a couple of weeks earlier at Clay Pigeon. The regulars we’re keen to keep them honest but could they fend them off?

Qualifying proved incredibly close with DBR just clinching pole from TeamTec by less than a tenth. Top 5 covered by less than 2/10ths of a second, 3rd Cooch, 4th J+G, 5th Stormy Normans. Clubman pole taken by the ever improving GT Motors & starting to mix it with the Expert teams.

Orderly start with DBR setting the pace with initially J+G, TeamTec, FAB & GT in pursuit. At 15mins TeamTec are keeping DBR honest with the gap at just 5 seconds. Stormy Normans off to a great start a further 4 seconds back in 3rd with J+G right on their tail & Cooch just 3 seconds back in 5th. GT hold the Clubman advantage from SR & P-Sports with BDC in close attendance. Westco1 an early casualty with a lengthy stop due to drivetrain problems.

DBR maintain their lead at 30 mins with the lead now approx 1/3 of a lap at 13 secs. Next 5 covered by just 12 seconds the order being TeamTec, J+G, Normans, Cooch & series leaders FAB. GT now lead Clubman by a lap from SR but pushed hard by NF recovering from a poor start.

With an hour gone DBR have put a lap on the entire field with Stormy Normans making moves into 2nd with TeamTec & J+G right on their tail. Cooch 13 seconds adrift in 5th. Clubman order GT, SR, NF with a lap between each.

Midway point & DBR still dominate at the front maintaining their 1 lap cushion. TeamTec back into 2nd with a 5 second lead over Normans. J+G drop a lap on pitstops still in 4th with Cooch & FAB 5th/6th separated by just 4 seconds. GT now have a 2 lap lead in Clubman with P-Sports now 2nd with SR/NF both pitting.

Next 45 mins DBR extend their lead to 2 laps with some very close racing between the following 5. Many changes of position with pitstops further confusing the issue. With 45 mins to run 2nd Stormy Normans with TeamTec just a second back in 3rd. FAB move up to 4th with J+G 5th & Cooch 6th. GT lead Clubman but only by a lap from SR & P-Sports 3rd.

The final run to the flag sees DBR clinch the win by a clear 3 laps. TeamTec 2nd & a great final push by FAB brings them through to 3rd. Following a re-count of laps due to a transponder problem J+G are 1 lap back classified 4th pushing Stormy Normans out to 5th. Cooch on the same lap in 6th. GT win Clubman by a clear 3 laps from SR & NF manage to claw their way back to 3rd.

Dry race in the main with just a couple of laps of fine drizzle to keep everyone on their toes with most managing to avoid the scenery. Well done David/Sean alias DBR Eglem on a near faultless performance. Rnd 7 Sat 22 Nov.
