I used mag everything back in the 1980s... rims, engine mounts etc... because of the weight saving too, in particular on rotational mass. To be honest it was probably fashion/hype driven as I don't think it made a blind bit of difference... still it was a great way of kart companies to get you to replace perfectly serviceable parts with alternatives that were con,siderably more expensive. If they work for you, and you're certain you're not suffering from the placebo effect, then by all means go for them.
Oh and another thing, be careful with working with magnesium... I almost set fire to my workshop back then when grinding an engine mount... the filings ignited so fast !
