I would certainly not want to discourage you in your own karting interest, and hope you achieve it - I just wanted to sound a note of caution before you part with cash if your main aim is to help your son develop his karting talent and enjoy some shared times - (I assume your son is under 16 and that he wants to race?)
You will NOT be able to drive in the same session as your son at either of the other tracks you mention, nor at the majority of other main tracks around the country. Their insurance cover is compromised if they run adults and juniors together if there is an accident, and you can see why. If your son is in a cadet that goes double - no track should run these at the same time as adults - the potential speed difference is just too great.
Plus normally as soon as he gets to ARKS test level, he will most likely only want to run against his peers to see his relative race speed before starting on his first race - and from then on, Dad is just the chief mechanic / gofer / coach / cook / sole sponsor, and every penny you can spare / earn will go on giving him the best equipment you can afford to compete with - at that point - welcome to the club !
