sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I think I have a similar problem....
We were given an old-style transponder by someone at our Kart club (in with some other stuff). I have charged it up. this is what happened.
Put it on to charge - was flashing red.
after about 15 hours the light was a steady green light.
took it off charge, and the green light changed to flashing red - but this time it is 3 flashes, then a pause, then 3 flashes etc. it has now been doing this for over 24 hours.

I assume this is not normal?
is the transponder "dead"? how can I check?
is it worth me sending it away to get a new battery installed in it?
