A couple of years ago I repaired a chassis which was well worn under the waist. Because the tubing was so thin there the handling had deteriorated badly and so drastic action was called for. I have a pal who's a skilled welder and we put a piece of flat, shaped bar around 5" long under each waist. It was a slightly unscientific and drastic fix but amazingly it worked very well and handling was improved dramatically. But it did mean the kart handling was better turning one way than the other so it still wasn't perfect. Do it if you can't afford to replace the chassis yet and when you get a new one protect it with chassis proectors.
