My son (10 yr old in a cadet)had a bad flip at speed last year and was wearing a leatt brace. He was thrown from the kart, slid along the track into the tyre wall with the kart then coming down on top of him. If the force the brace and his helmet absorbed had been transferred directly to his head neck and shoulders I am convinced that instead of being just shaken up he may of been seriously injured, a view shared by the medics on scene. The brace and helmet were both damaged beyond repair but I am happy that this was in itself PROOF that they did exactly what they were supposed to do. I would not let my son drive without one.
