I agree, it is more likely to do with the cost of exhibiting there vs the relative gains.
Kart exhibitors, would have to make considerable sales as a direct result of the show, and unfortunately it has been getting harder and harder every year.
I know many component manufacturers within the main motorsport arena that no longer exhibit at the autosport show as there are other more affordable means of generating sales with far better pay back.
Remember, none of the companies are there just for the fun of it or to support british motorsport (unless incentivised by Autosport). They are there simply for the sales/marketing opportunity. For some it makses commercial sense, for others it not worth attending.
