With the poor thermoplastic properties of the material used for nose cones (i.e. they crack at the moulded seams a lot easier at below 5 deg c than they do at 15-20 deg c)it seems possible that the crash testing / assessment of suitability for use of these things was not exactly thorough before they were adopted. Add in the launch ramps fixed to the front of Zip cadets that clearly do not meet the defined design criteria but somehow stay legal despite a weight of evidence of their poor design, and there is no wonder that karters question the validity of the rulebook that says any damage and it needs replacing. Pity to poor scrutineer trying to interpret the rules as best he can to keep people safe but racing.
