No, S1 is indeed not a charity

It is the UK National Championships, tasked with finding the best kart drivers in the country - some of whom will hopefully go on to find success in bigger series in the future and show the UK is one of the best race driver sources in the world.

However, it managed to be this long before these additional costs came into play. There was a healthy field of drivers in most classes, and as far as we could see the series was getting along just fine.

You are right in saying they need to make a profit - and I doubt anyone would begrudge them this fact - the argument I make is that there are several "not for profit" costs that have been introduced that have reduced the availability of the series to many drivers.

So either:
a) These extra costs were introduced (as you say)to make extra profit, in which case your argument implies a certain dishonesty on the part of those who introduced them
b) The costs are indeed "not for profit", in which case your arguement isn't relevant, as the series makes its profit from the original source of entry and registration fees, which (TV costs aside) are not in dispute

Which do you believe to be the case?
