This is another subject on which I am NO expert..... but I think AllanRR was an expert.

He advised us that using washing up liquid is NOT a good idea. His suggestion ( I seem to remember) was that you tried any ad-hoc solutions (no pun intended) on a small sheet of kitchen foil hung in you utrasonic bath. I seem to remember he sugested you'd notice it would turn darker, even going to black, if you used the wrong solution. At worst, you'd find HOLES punched through the foil.

There are 'proper' ultrasonic solutions available. Just Google them. You can even make your own. Water alone doesn't seem to be recommended, either.
