Sonic,
based on the above the advice to go to your local circuit and see what's running is best....also there are often a couple of karts for sale in the pits where you can talk to the owners.

The point I wish to make is to ensure you fit it with decent tyres. Nothing worse for the lads confidence (and safety) to be on an old set of tyres they should have been binned years ago. They don't have to be new (Ł140) just a reasonable set that still have some grip left in them.
