We coat the surrouding parts (not the chain or sprocket etc) with WD40 prior to going out, then apply the chain lube. Cleaning afterwards again using WD40 and it all lifts off without a problem. Every couple of months we brush the entire Kart over with Jizer and carefully presure wash off. We've used most lubes (except wax)and not found any difference.
