I don't use special equipment to measure heats!
we look how the kart look on the track by testing different rims the science behind it I wouldn't know but we know that certain rims works much better in cold weather than hot weather we also use different width rims in wet conditions. testing is done by using data logging so we can compare and overlay the data. If you need detailed advice on rims spec which is the best for your kart you should speak to the manufacture of your kart. I know that certain teams use and try different rims during race meetings. but as Andy said you are only looking at a tenth or so.
