Tired Dad I think you have misunderstood me. I've used the chassis tweaks to give the lad confidence to go faster not to make the kart faster in itself but my point is exactly the same as yours with regard to wheels in that when you're running near the front with a consistent driver, different rims may find the extra 10th or so. The OP states his lad is doing low 51s at forest which is over 3 secs off so to give his lad confidence to drive it faster he would IMHO be better using the chassis rather than trying to find time in rims, which without consistently fast lap times will be hard to monitor.
