I do believe a Nyloc nut is not a locking nut as such.
They have the ability to be moved after installation as the bolt thread does not cut a thread in the nylon.
Damaged bolt ends can however damage the insert and shorten its life.
Lock nuts usually have a deformed part of the metal thread, like the crimped end of a K nut.
Using a nut gun can melt the nylon and obviously if they are used in a hot environment, then the insert can degrade.
If the nut still has a reasonable amount of prevailing torque left in the nylon! that is, can it still resist you turning in on by hand! then it can be used.
We're not dealing with an aircraft at 35,000 feet.
