Richy, I was not begrudging the Marshals Ł35 0r Ł40 at all as I agree that it is at times a thankless task, however as Steve Clayton has pointed out in his post the flag marshal should never leave their post as they are there to FLAG.
My point was that we may well need to dig deeper into our pockets to pay for the extra cover that would be ideal. The reference to car & bike racing was merely highlighting that more than one marshal per post was seen as minimum cover and that in 99% of events these marshals are unpaid. This just shows what a civilised and generous bunch we karters are!!
