If your sons decide to race under MSA rules then from 01.01.11 they will have to wear the new CMR helmets.
For now you could buy any Snell 2005 helmet but they would only be race legal for 2010.
At the moment the CMR helmets seem to be around the Ł300 to Ł320 mark but there has been talk of cheaper ones coming on the market around March/April but until these are officially announced it is difficult to be sure. Even if they do come in at around Ł150 you probably would not make much of a saving if you bought a ceap helmet now and then another later in the year as opposed to going for the CMR standard now - maybe depende if you think your lads will stick at it.
