I doubt that heating tyres/rims would gain any advantage at most tracks. You would really need four heat guns to get all tyres/rims heated at the same time then a very quick dash to the grid and out onto the track before they got cold again. There was a detailed test shown on a USA site that showed some advantage from using heated tyres but they used tyre warmers - went up to high temperatures and only removed the tyre warmers just as the karts were going onto the track. On the safety side, the rubber taken off can get very hot and you did see tyres being cleaned with the hot air gun whilst another was filling the fuel tank - may sound stupid but it happened.
