My son has had the same problem for a while. We had to see the MSA consultant in London the first time he applied, with a letter from his own consultant. Merely a formality to check it was under control but still cost us for the MSA consultants time. Since then we have had to provide a letter from my sons diabetic consultant every time we have applied for a renewal. The msa send this to the consultant for his ok. No extra cost but you do need to allow 4-6 weeks for a licence renewal for the time taken for this to happen.
Dont let this stop you enjoying your racing. Just keep an eye on your levels during the day.
