The pedal position makes a huge difference to the feel and responsiveness of the system. If the pedal is adjusted too far back you have to apply a lot of pressure initially and less later on in the pedal travel. If the pedal is adjusted "over-centre" , i.e. too far forward, you have to apply little pressure initially and more later on. When it is adjusted perfectly, pedal pressure is pretty constant.

Karts should be designed with multiple pedal mounting points.
