I haven't been to Wombwell since the 80's & have no axe to grind, but I think this from an experienced racer who was simply spectating, speaks volumes:

"Not letting newbies on a track (on a non-race Saturday) because they only have 3 numbers on or a piece of tape has fallen off a battery terminal I think is ridiculous and does not encourage anyone. A little bit of friendly advice would work better."
