If you have a stock motor, old chassis, un set-up kart and knackered tyres and you a second a lap off them thats not bad - how about spending the £120-£140 on a set of tyres and learning how to set up a kart and see how close you are then.
There are plently of people around who can show/teach you how to set up a kart.
If you enjoy the class you are in, spend some of the money you are going to on the new chassis/motor and get your motors looked at, get a new set of tyres and get some lessons in setting up.
If you want to try another class - then you have a good excuse to go and do it. Out of your to options I would pick Max for ease of racing anywhere.
