The on-line edition still has to be prepared by the editorial team, and you still have the same costs for correspondents, photographers etc, although granted you don't have the production and distribution costs associated with "hard copy". If, as kartmum suggests, there is a rescue package coming along, then it must be in all our interests for us to subscribe to it, if we want the new version to survive, in whatever form that is?
