Timed quali has mouthing whatsoever to do with the MSA. It is up to the organising club to set the format.
For what it's worth I have been trying to get our club to scrap the 3 lap practice and replace it with a10 min qualifying practice for all classes with the fastest taking pole and being credited with the same grid points as a normal heat. Follow this with 2 , 8 min heats plus 1 lap first being on quali order the second on the finishing order of the heat the final could then be 10 mins plus 1 lap grid based on the position points from quali plus the 2 heats.n
