Tyro kart racing is provided for novice drivers, 16 years of age and over, who want to sample karting or who want to race low powered karts within a promoted/permitted meeting. The equipment may be hired to them or they may provide their own. The conditions of Permit and Licence are contained within the MSA Competitors’ Yearbook.
Clubs and organisers should recognise that Tyro Karting is aimed at newcomers to the sport and not as a practice event for experienced drivers. Wherever possible competitors having a novice Clubmans licence should not be allowed on track with competitors having evidential experience – either past or present.
