On the flip side, it means that the guy with the fastest engine (biggest wallet) gets a natural disadvantage to being at the front ;)

This idea should be forgotten imo, the only people who seem to back it are those suffering from a bit of nostalgia.

We're really not going to get more people in to karting by making them look like beech buggies without a lid.

For the sake of an open discussion.. it's a bit convenient that these pods create a really nice surface for advertisements isn't it...
