If you're going to start doing all that with sensors and co-ordinate the logs post-race, you need a logging method with universal time across all devices.
GPS time is probably the best way of doing that - accuracy with correct equipment is +/- 10 nanoseconds.
Also an easy way to pull that info from each kart at the end of each session.
Kind of like an Alspy A110 that the CIK used to use.
