Given how quickly these engines start and how little use the starter motor gets - why the need for a repair kit? Proves that IAME are again not developing and testing engines properly for market. IAME have used both ARB & Mattsui starters so this may explain some differences. However a replacement starter motor is not cheap and the repair kit is a very viable alternative. From a wear point of view, the brushes and bearings should last a long time. Using Silicon or solder on the pigtails may stiffen up the brush leads for a while delaying the eventual break, but is not the permanent fix. Come on IAME this is 2014 get this sorted.
