Not a bad idea to go along to your nearest track that holds real racing and start by watching. Go around the pits and talk to the parents of young drivers, your son could get to know a few of the drivers as well. Get to know the classes that would suit you and your son, but whatever you do, don't be in a hurry to buy. Most "dad and a lad" teams are more than willing to give advice and might welcome another pair of hands to assist. You might be able to locate a track offering young driver tuition, which is the safest way to start. You don't give your location, but look in this site's Tracks Directory to find any nearby. Hope this helps, Dave.
