I have been told on numerous occasions by fellow racers and tuners that I have a "good" engine and as of yet have failed to finish on the podium or even claim a trophy in the past 3 years of racing in max. The truth is that there are better drivers than myself and even with so called lesser engines are beating me. Thats a difficult thing to admit that you are not getting the most out of your equipment on a monthly basis but i am trying in the end though there can only be one winner a fact lost on most people. However I have only a few years experience and the guys who are beating me have more experience so the engine does make a difference however a better driver can make more. But if you want to win week in week out I think you need the whole package good driver and good engine. But think for a second if hand on heart you can say there is nothing you can do to personally improve then yes it is slightly unfair. However there is a preconcieved idea that money equals success because (not being a bighead) i could afford to do it. But i dont because I know at the end of the day the best i will be is a average club racer but that i enjoy my racing and thats enough for me. Sometimes it sucks being a midfielder/back of the pack but you have a multiple of factors/karts/drivers who are all trying to win.
