Thanks for your reply,
We are using a 8.5 carb, K27 needle, 5.2 floats and on a typical summers day a 142 main jet.
I was using a 24 plug previouly but the centre electrode looked a bit iffy so i changed it to be safe.
Although the plug colour hasn't changed there are traces of oil around the plug threads which seems to indicate it is not lean.
The top of the piston looks black without being wet.
I just assumed that by now the plug would have coloured up.
