Andy, i never usually use the inline filter either, but have done since Dragon Masters. I think the balls ars sheding from the inside of the filter so they can get sucked up, because when i inspected the filter,i couldnt see where any "balls" had come off.
QOT- yes i was usuing it as a clunk/chase/filter
