I once went through a nightmare stage with my powervalve. Mine also seemed ok whilst on the stand. I ended up with locktite both ends (not bad practice) new bellows, new comp spring, a spring both ends a new gasket a new blade, a new black plastic top and still had trouble! Solution was the alloy casing it is all housed in. I think when it got hot it warped out of shape and nipped the blade. I bought another casing and put all my now replaced items on and hey presto problem solved. It then dawned on me that i had spent more on individual parts trying to cure it than if i had bought the unit complete.
Try someone elses if you can first though!
