If in doubt, use the first option.

Best way I found, running a TM engine with a dry clutch, learn where the bite point is. Once you've learnt, when you pull up on the grid, find the bite point, pull the clutch in a tiny bit so as not to jump the start, when the lights go out, drop the clutch. I found sitting at 11-12k and going full throttle when the light goes out should do the trick.

It may be different if you have a Pavesi, which has a wet clutch though.
