Hi Brian, I was disappointed last month when I found out we were running without it but in the actual race it did mean you could punish another driver if they were slow out of either of the two corners after Southbank as you could get inside of them by the end of the start-finish straight. Most of my passes were made there in March. With the chicane in you’re doing well to pass someone but I have passed (and been passed) on the entry to the chicane – you really have to trust the other driver, and like you say, it sorts the men from the boys!
My personal preference is to have at least one of the chicanes in as they do make the lap more challenging and it means the engine is only on the limiter once a lap.
