Think of your kart facing north-south. Place the THICK and TOUGH drainpipe (it need to support your kart and your lad) under the kart in an east-west direction. The kart will now either topple forward or backward. Roll the pipe AWAY from the direction it is toppling and try again. When it balances (or almost balances....) then you are at the centre of gravity for the front-rear.
The pipe has to be wider diameter then the amount that your wheels hold the chassis rails off the floor. That is, measure the gap between the chassis 'rails' and the floor next to the seat. The drain pipe needs to be wide diameter than that gap so it can hold the chassis off the ground.
Is that clear?
