Ian, they pretty well all overhang in TKM and Rotax nowadays. Lots of the 50 mm diameter hubs don't even have a through-hole.

I shared your concerns, especially with single-bolt hubs on 30 mm axles. In my slightly limited experience of a couple of years's running with 30 mm axles with overhanging hubs - they only ever moved in the "safe" direction.
