Kezz like others on here has admitted '' I am not mechanically minded." If I wanted to ' skim' a Honda cyl. head , I would clamp it to a 'face plate' on a lathe and 'turn' off metal,. leaving machining marks as 'rings' on the 'gasket face'. In production Honda would seem to ' grind ' the gasket face leaving a very different surface finish . The suggestion is that the unscrupulous may be removing metal from the head and then reproducing the Honda finish (markings) by 'grinding'. If there is a problem , it has been that too many of the Honda rules have relied on 'original surface finish' rather than dimensions ' thus allowing selected parts.
